Night of the UFOs in Texas - 8 January examined

FlaresFor some of us, time has passed by slowly since the first reports of strange objects in the sky over central Texas that it seems like it happened years ago rather than mere months. So much has been written about, discussed in forums and scrutinized by media that it's easy to lose sight of the sightings that started the bulk of the commotion. Let's take a trip back in history...waaaay back to 08 January 2008 if you will. The following were reports submitted to NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Center) concerning that day, or rather...night.

Dear Colleagues,
We are in the curious situation today that our best modern physics and astrophysics theories arguably predict that we should be experiencing extraterrestrial visitation, yet any possible evidence of such lurking in the UFO phenomenon is scoffed at within our scientific community

Examining the 2008 Erath County, Texas Sightings

18 March 2008
By Arthur Donachie Contributing author

In an effort to better understand the numerous Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings around North Central Texas in early 2008, various elements of the phenomena have been examined. The effort would have been much more thorough if individuals had released evidence they are known to possess. So far, with so little to go on, the results are mixed.

It began during the early evening hours of January 8, 2008, in Selden, Texas, when Steve Allen, Mike Odom, and Lance Jones observed strange, flashing lights in the sky. As reported by Stephenville Empire-Tribune staff writer Angelia Joiner later that week

Stephenville "Symbols" Deconstructed

Caron ImageSince the March 3rd "leak" of the first David Caron video, the web has been abuzz with speculation over the source of unusual light patterns recorded.

Deconstruction began when a user on the Open Minds Forum (OMF) posted a YouTube link of the video. Word quickly spread throughout many internet forums to include AboveTopSecret.com (ATS). Suggestions of the cause of the lights ranged from the mundane to the outright bizarre.

Steve HammonsContinuing developments in the Texas UFO sightings incidents are raising eyebrows.

Several of these new elements are of interest for people curious about UFOs as well as Americans and journalism professionals concerned about the integrity of the news media in the United States.

A case about an unusual and unconventional occurrence such as a cluster of UFO sightings is becoming intertwined with more conventional analysis of U.S. news media ownership and ethics.

Interestingly, the Stephenville case may shed more light on both of these areas.
