Four area residents witness mysterious object, lights in Selden sky

By ANGELIA JOINER Staff Writer

Steve Allen, Mike Odom and Lance Jones were out admiring a beautiful Texas sunset Tuesday evening when they saw something none of them can explain.

Allen called it an unidentified flying object. And, because he's been a private pilot for more than 30 years, he has a little more experience judging air speeds and distances than most.

“We all flipped out,” Allen said. “I didn't sleep a wink last night.”

Allen was at the home of Mike Odom in Selden about 6:15 p.m. when they suddenly noticed flashing lights about “3,500 feet above ground level,” he said.

“The ship wasn't really visible and was totally silent, but the lights spanned about a mile long and a half mile wide,” Allen said. “The lights went from corner to corner. It was directly above Highway 67 traveling towards Stephenville at a high rate of speed - about 3,000 miles per hour is what I would estimate.”

Allen said the lights were not those of a normal aircraft. He said they were more like strobe lights, and while they were all watching, the lights reconfigured themselves from a single horizontal line into two sets of vertical lights.

“The two sets were approximately one-quarter of a mile apart,” Allen said. “Then they turned into dirty burning flames. The flames were not blue. They were white in color. About two seconds later it disappeared completely.”

Allen said they were all scratching their heads and talking about what it could have been, when approximately 10 minutes later, the object flew overhead again.

“This time it came from the west traveling east towards Glen Rose,” Allen said. “And it was about two or three miles south of 67, and two military jets, possibly F16s, were in pursuit.”

“I was asking, “Are you guys seeing that?” Allen said.

Mike Odom said he didn't have trouble sleeping but it was a “wild experience.”

“It's unexplainable,” Odom said. “It was something not natural; it was moving way too fast.”

Odom said he saw one other unexplainable object in the sky in 1978 when he was in Arizona.

“Back then something flew over with lights all around,” Odom said. “I think this thing bothered all of us, but it probably bothered Steve more because he's a pilot and he flies a lot.”

“It was neat,” Lance Jones said. “It was something. I've never seen anything like it before but it didn't scare me. I just figured it was military.”

Odom's wife, Claudette, said she was previously employed as a flight attendant.

“Lights were going up and down the side,” she said. “There was no sound, just the lights. It was moving so fast. It wasn't a plane. I know how planes move. Honestly, I think it was a UFO. It was so fast you couldn't have put your finger on it and move it fast enough to follow it.”

Allen said he has never seen a UFO until now, but he did suspect there was something to UFO stories all along.

“I was very surprised to finally get my eyes on one,” Allen said. “If anybody else saw this and got pictures I hope they will contact me.”

Allen said he has already reported the sighting to Washington, and is in the process of writing a report on the event.

Allen is the owner of L & S Enterprises and Texas Freight in Glen Rose. He can be contacted at 254-898-1117.

The group plans to return to Odom's house and keep an eye on the sky in the near future, hoping to see it again.

Hi verum. Nothing is better than a pilot sighting. Interesting read. Funny how the F16's are all to often common in these events... I'm trying to grasp the size of the craft... Hmmm.
Oh and welcome to OMF!

@nibiru-The size that Allen described is amazing. A possible craft that is 5000 ft long and 2000 ft wide. That is like having 2 or more aircraft carriers in the sky. To me, since the witness' (I personally know two of them) desribe the lights changing formation, maybe what they were witnessing was a whole squadron of alien craft instead of one big one. Erath County sits right in between two major military airfields. 65 miles to the east sits Carswell JRB (Joint Reserve Base)in Fort Worth, and 90 miles to the west is Dyess AFB in Abilene. And only about 10 -15 miles from where the craft was reported is a secret US Govt. location not to far off of state hwy 144. It is high fenced with razor wire. There is a private road that leads up to the main gate. The gate has humvees with very well armed guards at it. I checked the area on a FAA flight map and sure enough it was a no fly zone.

Sorry I got off target there.

Not off target at all. Living there, do you think it's our military?

I doubt it. But any guess would be pure specualtion on my part. Why were the F-16s chasing the UFO?

was it et visiting to exchange materials, personell. Did their cloaking device fail, those so called no fly zones perhaps they are that way so et can drop straight down and drop off supplies on black nights. Makes sense.

Could have been an observation flight ( common if u had secret advanced tech that could cloak and float against gravity) and u have motherships on the far side of moon and youre observing or perhaps interacting with a select group of natives ( usg black ops) would u have specific designated flight zones u could drop off

Could the craft be one of ours a resupply mission to a moon base that we have perhaps jointly with et

Could the et just be observing as part of treaty ground based human installations - with f1l6 playing escort or intercept ? did they fly into the wrong area so many questions but applying some logic makes sense

I wondered if maybe all the sightings of this type.. pheonix/jersey/this..etc.

is our own.. using tech we got from them.... and maybe the gov or whoever has been making these appearances over these certain places to see how everyone reacts?...
and it seems like each one happens in an area that would be fairly easy to control if panic struck...?..? I dunno....
its very exciting to me though.
I like the idea of the motherships on the moons dark side..... tis interesting , as I had a thought of that earlier this evening.. just a daydream i think.. of a ship sneaking around from behind the moon n makin its way here..lol, then you say that.
I would bet just about everything I have that there are structures over on the far side.. being used all the time to prolly...
d**n..
I wonder how the media will treat it , and if more ppl will tell if they saw it or not,
I think maybe we are going to start seeing these same type of sightings time after time starting this year...more n more often.. we'll see...
Thanks alot for the info, many thanks!
Blessings

This sighting has just blown up around here. This article is not online yet, so I am going to transcribe it and provide the link to it later when our small town newspaper gets it online.

Mysterious sightings keep locals guessing

By ANGELIA JOINER
Staff Writer

A number of area residents have come forward saying they also saw mysterious lights witnessed by Steve Allen and friends Tuesday night in Selden.

"It was like nothing I've ever seen before," comes up over and over in their descriptions of bright lights in the sky. Accounts have come in from various locations and a few of those brave enough to come forward are listed below with stories of their own.

Major Karl Lewis of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth (Carswell Field) believes he might be able to solve the mystery in a couple of days.

Allen said his phone rang all day Wednesday with people reporting to him that they had seen the strange lights in the sky.

David Jaquess
"I live 4.6 miles out on Hwy. 67. About 6:15 p.m. I saw something as I was turning in my driveway. I won't say it was a UFO but I will say it was UFL, meaning it was unidentified flying lights. They were real bright yellow and I thought I must be seeing the sun reflecting off a plane. I'm guessing they were five miles away from me. But, they were unusually bright like a welding arc being struck - it was that bright. I don't discount UFOs but I don't necessarily believe in them either. I got a call this morning saying there was a story about a UFO in today's paper and it was out where I live. I immediately said, ' Yeah, I saw it.' I was looking west/southwest."

Dublin Constable Lee Roy Gaitan
"I was outside with my eight-year-old son, Ryan, when I saw lights. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. It was dark already. At first it was two red burning glows that went away and then came back on. I went inside to tell my wife. When I came back out I saw something like lights you'd see in a bar. My little boy and I counted and we came up with nine flashes and they were real spread out. But I couldn't see them attached to anything, just the lights. Si I went to my pickup and got my binoculars to see if I could see a plane or something. Even with my binoculars there was no outline. It started moving towards Stephenville and moving so fast I had trouble following it with my binoculars. It covered a big area. It sounds crazy but we really saw what we saw. As a matter of fact I mentioned it to a fellow officer in Stephenville and he called me up and said to get the Stephenville paper because I wasn't going to believe what was in it. I also went to the Dublin paper but they had no other reports on it so I just dropped it. But my little boy went to school the next day and told everybody all about what we'd seen."

Anne Frazor
"I had just left the nursing home from seeing my husband. I was going down FM 914 towards Alexander. Just as I got to the hill at Alexander where Hwy. 6 crosses 914 I saw them - the lights. It scared me. I thought two planes were about to collide. The lights were as bright as a school bus ahead of you but up in the air. They were certainly much closer to the ground than I would appreciate them to be. I looked in my mirrors and there were no reflections. Just as I got to the top of the hill they were gone. It was about 6:40 p.m."

James Hughes
"I was a navigational specialist in the Air Force and I don't know what it was that I saw while I was walking two friends to their car at my home. But as soon as I saw it I jokingly said to them, 'Hey look - a UFO.' I saw two red lights acting unusual. There were two very bright red lights traveling in formation. By formation I mean they kept their positions respective to each other. They were so intensely bright that I realized they must be at a low altitude. But, there was no noise. The lights were not like a helicopter or a plane. I live near the courthouse, actually two blocks from it, towards the river. It was unusual."

I also wanted to add that there is a nuclear power plant not 10-12 miles from where Steve Allen reported his sighting. The plant is just outside Glen Rose, TX. It is called Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. It is owned by TXU.

I personally know Daivd Jaquess. He is a very prominent building contractor and Constable Lee Roy Gaitan. Gaitan use to be the chief of police in Dublin, TX. These are some very credible witness'.

Now here is a credible ufo report! Notice the people who step up and give their real names, even though they are reporting something preposterous. Now has anyone else noticed that we don't see even one photograph? Instead of the usual stunning photograph with no real people, here we have the opposite. The truth is in the people, the honest ones with nothing to hide, and not in some digital image from an anonymous source.

Of course this will need to be investigated, and it will be, but there is plenty to start with and no silly email games.

Howdy Verum:

I'm looking at maps on Yahoo, trying to pin these sightings. I think you'd do better than me - you know the area. It's been a very long time since I've been in that part of Texas. Can you deduce from the locations of these sightings a flight track for this craft?

Also, just where on 144 is the secret facility? I wonder if the track points to that location.

razpad

Steve Allen described the flight path followed US Hwy 67 going from Glen Rose, TX towards Stephenville, TX.. then he said the craft came back going towards dallas just off of Hwy. 67. The secret installation is on the east side of Hwy 144 between Walnut Springs, TX and Meridian, TX. Find County Road (CR) 2546 look north for Private Road(PR) 2549 that is the main road in. If you use google sat images you can see a guard shack a few hundred yards up from the hwy. On a wider few you can also see a private air strip. You will also notice that part of the image seems to be grayed out with a gray tint on the east side of this complex. The whole complex is a little over 3,000 acres. The main buildings sit in a valley. The main road in looks very out place in this ranching land. It is an interstate quality concrete road heading into what looks like a big ranch. The perimeter fence you can see from the hwy looks like a high game fence further in there is another fence with razor wire and a guard shack on the main road in. The interior description of the complex was given to me second hand by a pilot friend of mine that was there one time for a govt. auction. The front gate by the hwy looks pretty normal, like an oil field entrance gate with trespassing warning signs and warning signs that the property has electronic survalence.

Thanks, Verum!

Man, that ain't no little ranch airstrip! That thing is one and a quarter miles long!! There is a square building at the end of the strip - only 100ft on a side. Seems kinda small for a hangar. There's a "normal" sized airstrip to the SE - seems to be associated with an actual ranch (looks like a residence with landscaping and a couple of outbuildings).

The Yahoo maps version is quite a bit clearer than Google, and the roads aren't so screwed up.

I've got really good friends in Hico - moved there from Dallas a few years ago to open their own store. Think I'll drop em an email - see if they've heard any revealing gossip in their shop!
